Appointed Persons (Emergency First Aid)

This one-day course is recommended by the HSE for Appointed Persons (Emergency First Aiders at Work) as defined under the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981. The Certificate is valid for three years. Delegates are assessed for competency throughout the course. This course provides basic instruction in the following areas:

First Aid at Work

This is the HSE certificated course for First Aiders at Work as defined under the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981. The Certificate is valid for three years. Delegates are assessed for competency throughout the course with a final practical assessment. This course provides basic instruction in the following areas:

First Aid at Work Requalification

This is a mandatory HSE requirement that qualified First Aiders must attend a training course within three years of gaining their first Certificate or Certificate of requalification. This course will update first aid skills, renew theoretical knowledge and is valid for a further three years. Delegates are assessed for competency throughout the course with a final practical assessment. This course provides both updates and refresher information on subjects from the 3 day course – see above.

Paediatric First Aid

A 2 day course for those wishing to learn basic first aid skills, which qualifies them to act as the appointed person in the workplace and specific first aid skills for those working with children as required by Ofsted since September 2008.  This course qualifies people working as childminders, nursery workers and teachers.
0 – 8 yr olds (home based or group settings) dealing with children and infants plus other relevant topics and is valid for three years. Delegates are assessed for competency throughout the course. This course provides basic instruction in the following areas:

Specialist First Aid

The one-day course is recommended by the HSE for Appointed Persons (Emergency First Aiders at Work) as defined under the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981. The Certificate is valid for three years. Delegates are assessed for competency throughout the course. This course provides basic instruction in the following areas:

Emergency First Aid for Sports – a 1 day course for those involved in sporting activities who may need to administer basic first aid and also qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the workplace.

Basic First Aid for Care of the Elderly Person – a 1 day course for those wishing to learn basic first aid with the emphasis on illnesses/incidents which are relevant to the elderly and also qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the workplace.

Basic First Aid for Pets – a 1 day course for dog and cat owners wishing to learn basic first aid for dogs and cats to deal with incidents encountered during the normal fun, active life of dog and cat ownership.

Basic First Aid for Care of Children – a 1 day course for those wishing to learn basic first aid for infants and children under eight and also qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the workplace.

Basic First Aid for Teachers – a 1 day course for teachers and staff in schools wishing to learn basic first aid for adults and children within a school environment and also qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the workplace.

Basic First Aid Including Emergency Life Support for Electricians – a 1 day course for electricians and those working with electricity. It includes basic life support skills for adults including the treatment of bleeding and burns with the emphasis on the dangers of electrical injuries and also qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the workplace.

Basic First Aid for Construction Workers – a 1 day course for construction workers and those working within the building industry. It includes basic life support skills for adults including the treatment of head injuries, spinal fractures, fractures, bleeding, amputations and crush injuries and also qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the workplace.
